Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Dr. Bristol - 16MM
Trust Equestrian Dr. Bristol Bit
Why choose a loose ring snaffle?
A loose ring snaffle has loose rings, allowing the bit to move more freely in the horse's mouth. This helps many horses accept the bit more easily. The bit rings on this model have a diameter of 7cm, providing a balanced action. The larger the rings on a loose ring snaffle, the softer and more indirect the action of the bit. To prevent the horse’s skin from getting pinched between the moving rings, it is recommended to use bit guards.
How does a Dr. Bristol mouthpiece work?
The Dr. Bristol mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat center plate. When the horse is relaxed, this plate lies flat on the tongue and applies light pressure. If the horse pushes against the bit with its tongue and tries to take control, the center plate tilts and creates a sharper action on the tongue. Because of this sharper effect, this mouthpiece is less suitable for inexperienced riders.
Why choose a Sweet Iron bit?
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a distinctive blue color. Through contact with (air) moisture, Sweet Iron forms surface rust that has a sweet taste, naturally encouraging the horse to produce more saliva. Increased salivation leads to better acceptance of the bit. This oxidation process causes the blue color of the TRUST bits to gradually change to a brownish-grey.
Trust Equestrian
The bits from TRUST Equestrian are proudly designed, developed and handmade in the Netherlands. A team of technical professionals works daily on their production. The bits are crafted with the utmost care using only the best materials, resulting in a very high standard of quality control. Each design carefully balances shape, material, and weight. TRUST bits are slightly curved to better follow the shape of the horse's mouth. Thanks to this anatomical shape, the bit fits more comfortably and distributes pressure more evenly. With a wide range of mouthpieces, cheekpieces, and materials, TRUST aims to offer the perfect bit for every horse.
