Directions for use

Step 1 – Cleaning
First remove loose dirt and dust with a soft cloth or brush. Then apply a small amount of Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Cleaner to one of the included sponges or to a soft cloth.

Clean the surface using gentle, circular motions. Wipe away loosened dirt with a clean, slightly damp cloth and let the leather dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Use: Clean the leather whenever it's visibly dirty, and always before a full care routine.

Step 2 – Conditioning
Apply a thin layer of Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Conditioner with the second sponge. Spread the product evenly over the clean, dry surface and let it absorb.

Then buff the leather with the included microfibre cloth for an even, natural finish. Don't use more product than necessary; a thin application gives the best result.

Use: Approximately once every two months, depending on use, wear and conditions.

Step 3 – Protecting
The separately available Derma Leather (PU) Protection is a leather protector that creates an invisible, breathable protective layer and helps preserve the leather's natural appearance, grip and condition for longer.

Apply the protector in a thin layer at least 24 hours after conditioning, onto a clean and completely dry surface.

Use: Up to three times per year, depending on use and conditions.

Recommended additions to the Derma Leather System

Van Doorn Exclusief Horsehair Brush
For heavily soiled seams, stitching, textured areas and hard-to-reach spots, we recommend a soft brush with natural horsehair bristles. The brush helps loosen dirt more deeply and forms a valuable addition to the Derma Leather Cleaner, without unnecessarily stressing the leather.

For light maintenance between full care routines, the Derma Leather 3-in-1 is a practical addition. This product cleans, nourishes and protects lightly in a single treatment, and is ideal when a full treatment with the Care Set isn't yet needed.

Our care advice

Regular light maintenance is more effective than using large amounts of product occasionally. Clean the leather when needed, condition it roughly every two months, and extend the system with the Derma Leather (PU) Protection for optimal protection.

With intensive use, heavy perspiration, high temperatures or exposure to dirt and moisture, more frequent care may be needed. Check the leather's appearance and condition regularly and adjust your care routine accordingly.

Apply each product in a thin layer and let the surface dry completely between the different steps. This helps preserve the leather's natural appearance, grip and condition for longer.

Why not leather fat, oil or wax?

Many modern leather types have a protective finish. As a result, heavy products such as leather fat, oil and wax are often barely absorbed and largely remain on the surface.

This can attract dirt and salt, reduce grip and unnecessarily saturate the leather. Repeated use can also lead to a greasy or shiny product build-up.

The Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Care Set is therefore developed according to a different care philosophy: regular cleaning and conditioning with light, professional products suited to modern finished smooth leather, without sealing or overloading the material.

Cleaning and Caring for Patent Leather

Patent leather has a sealed top layer and requires specific care. For patent leather riding boots, we recommend using the Derma Leather Cleaner in combination with the No.1 Royal Patent Shine – Care & Protection. This product is specially developed to care for and protect patent leather while preserving its distinctive shine.

For a quick touch-up between full care routines, use No.2 Royal Patent Spray. This spray removes light residue, refreshes the shine, and helps keep patent leather easily in good condition.
